From 12 to 13 March 2026, the leading experts in German-speaking hydraulic engineering will convene at the Maritim International Congress Center in Dresden for the Wasserbaukolloquium Dresden 2026 (Hydraulic Engineering Colloquium). Dorsch Engineers will be represented alongside KREBS+KIEFER, IRS Stahlwasserbau and spiekermann ingenieure under the umbrella of Dorsch Europe.
Dr. Christopher Paschmann of spiekermann will represent Dorsch Europe in the academic programme, delivering two specialist presentations that explore what modern water infrastructure can achieve today:
Harnessing River Thermal Energy in Harmony with Nature: PowerLahn
How can thermal energy be extracted from the River Lahn without adversely affecting fish migration, aquatic ecology or its status as a federal waterway? Dr Christopher Paschmann (spiekermann) will present the concept and findings of the PowerLahn project — a model approach for the energy utilisation of flowing water bodies in Germany.
Water for the Rhenish Mining Region: The RWTL as a Key Project of the Energy Transition
The phase-out of coal mining is placing the Rhenish Mining Region at the forefront of a profound structural transformation, one that demands water resources on a significant scale. The Rhine Water Transfer Pipeline (RWTL) forms the water management backbone of this transition. Dr Paschmann will provide insights into the planning process and the specific engineering challenges associated with this major infrastructure project.
